A Day of Discovery
SCIL is delighted to announce the launch of our first specialised Immersion Day focusing on our Rhythm and Blues project (ProjectRnB). Come along to see the space, the pedagogy, and above all the people at the heart of our High School music program.
We aim to leave you with two key takeaways:
- a deeper sense of clarity regarding your own vision for learning in your school or context
- a range of practical ideas to gain "easy wins" around student engagement and deep learning
The day is a chance to experience a wide variety of spatial, technological, and pedagogical innovations working together to engage learners.
Please note, this is not a training day, and does not include step by step instructions for any of the technologies or methods used. Instead, it's a day of possibilities to leave you with new directions for your own context.
Monday 14 September, 10am to 3pm
In the Rhythm and Blues learning space at Northern Beaches Christian School, Terrey Hills.
We limit overall bookings to eight participants, involving a maximum of four schools, to ensure the highest quality immersive experience and critical conversations.
The day is intended for anyone with an interest in music education, including music teachers, school leaders and business managers.
Induction: Meet the other participants over a cup of coffee, and prepare for the "immersion" experience with your host Ben Hedstrom.
Immersion (Space & Technology): Visit the Rhythm and Blues space and have a hands-on-tour of the space and technology:
the seven stations of the space: Base Station, Creation Station, Jam Rooms, Jam Stations, Stage, Suites, and Greenroom
the online infrastructure: Google Apps, Music Ed Net Virtual Apps, Moodle, and iCloud
the ever-evolving pedagogical structures that hold it all together
Immersion (Community of Practice): At the heart of the space is people: two adults + sixty young people = a vibrant community of practice. We invite you to join in: both observe the interactions and participate in them. Watch. Ask questions. Make contributions.
Q&A session over Lunch
Facilitated Debriefing: Throughout the day you've been investigating, but what will you take away with you? We will lead you through a debriefing process where you build clarity with your colleagues around:
- some "easy win" ideas to implement immediately
- your vision for learning in the longer term
$299 inc GST per person
We limit registrations to a maximum of 8 participants on any Music Immersion Day to ensure that we offer the richest and most informative experience possible and can personalise to the needs and context of each participating team.
