Immersion Days at NBCS
1 to 7 participants. An in-depth and immersive investigation of flagship learning programs at NBCS, with facilitated debriefing and bespoke consultation.
Each year SCIL hosts many hundreds of educators and leaders from around Australia and the world, who come to see our post-industrial model of schooling for themselves at Northern Beaches Christian School in Terrey Hills in Sydney. The school has gained a reputation for the design of learning spaces and furniture, rethinking pedagogy and leading change across the learning community.
We have created our Immersion Day program to allow you and your team the opportunity for genuine insight into how people, places, and pedagogy can be transformed for a new era. We carefully frame the day within a design process that leaves you with key insights or ideas relevant to your own journey.
Hosted by NBCS Senior Executive
Your team will be personally hosted by a member of the NBCS Senior Leadership.
In the afternoon, they will facilitate a process so that, rather than become overwhelmed, your team can identify key insights that will translate with clarity into your unique context.
We have options for our Immersion Days that include careful pre and post-visit consultation, to better understand your critical agenda, tailor the day around your needs, and assist with a debriefing and "next actions" plan after your return.
We include in the tour a guided exploration of the key technologies we use to facilitate personalised learning (Bring Your Own Device, Moodle / Learning Management Systems, Google Docs, etc). These technologies are made intelligible, using Dr David Thornburg’s taxonomy of virtual space.Critical to our techniques is the notion of blended learning: expertise and personalised options available on demand for learners, and organised graphically via a web portal. We grant your team guest access to explore this learning architecture during and after the day.
During an Immersion Day at NBCS, you will see our flagship programs in action, gaining authentic perspectives from students and staff during a ‘deep-dive’ tour of the school, spanning Primary and Secondary.
Not Just Observation, but Interaction
Our Immersion Day experience is framed as detective work, and as part of lesson observation your team is invited to talk to our students and staff to uncover the sorts of insights that can make or break successful innovation.
Highlights of the tour include:
Meet, greet, tea and coffee. Introduction to the SCIL Design process. Preparation for the tour (key concepts, context and history).
Immersive tour of the campus.
Immersive tour of digital / virtual learning space. Q&A. Lunch.
